2019 Books

This past year I made it a goal to read one book per month. I wanted to become more intentional with my night routine and set a limit of screen time once our son went to bed. I noticed such a huge difference in my sleep with reading actual books and eliminating a screen. My mind and eyes had time to relax and I was able to fall asleep quickly. It truly has become something I look forward to and I am excited to discover new books this upcoming year.

I will say, I prefer listening to audio books if it is in the “self-development” realm. I find those easy to listen to as I exercise or complete daily chores. I thought I would share the books I read this past year. I enjoyed each book, however will star my top three!

Motherhood Lessons: Year Two

As our son approaches his second birthday, I can’t help but reflect on how our lives have changed since he entered the world. Becoming a mother has been one of the greatest gifts and responsibilities I could have ever been given. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to stay home and be completely hands on. Watching him grow, learn, and discover the world around him refreshes my own spirit and continuously keeps things in perspective. I absolutely LOVE this stage, meltdowns and all, and am trying to be intentional with soaking it all in.

I thought it would be fun to share what I have learned this second year of motherhood. I shared my lessons during my first year here: SAHM: Year One. What are some lessons you have learned along the way? I would love to know with the season you are in!

Year Two Lessons

1. I don’t think parenthood is ever easy, it just seems easier as you gain more confidence and experience with your child. Be confident in your role and know that you were created for them, and are exactly what they need.

2. Model, model, model! Your child is a sponge and will mimic what they see and hear. The best way to teach is to show.

3. Be aware and intentional of your relationship with your spouse (if applicable) around your child. Your relationship will become their “normal”.

4. Read and talk to your child constantly! There is so much to teach in the everyday.

5. Enjoy ALL the hugs, slobbery kisses, and “I love you Mamas”. There is nothing like it.

6. Work through emotions and responses. Allow your child to feel what they feel and then move forward with appropriate measures. Your child does not automatically know how to do things…

7. Be present.

8. Your child will not remember if you did things perfectly. They will only remember how you made them feel and the environment you created. It is okay to fail or have bad days.

9. Structure and routine can be such a blessing to revive your spirit and mindset!

10. Take time for yourself, family, friends, and spouse. Show your child it is important to foster those relationships and build others up.

Jac

Christmas Gift Series 2019: Me

I have shared what my husband and toddler will be receiving for Christmas this year. You can check the posts out here: Christmas Gift Series 2019: HusbandChristmas Gift Series 2019: Toddler. Today I wanted to share what is on my list! For the most part my husband and I both know the items we will be getting each other since they stay within the same categories each year. We also keep an Amazon family wish list to make it easy if we need additional ideas (also nice to share with family members).

What are some things on your list this year? I would love to know!

Jac

Something To Wear

  • Replace any requested undergarments (socks, sports bras, pj’s, etc.)

Something To Read

  • I like to keep a few book options on our wish list. I am excited to start reading Hands Free Mama by Rachel Stafford!

Something Needed

  • I always ask for a new calendar. I love paper/pen!
  • This year I also asked for a mindset calendar created by my good friend. Check it out here: Mindset Calendar
  • Eyelash Curler

*I also will request any hygiene items that I need to restock (skin, hair, makeup, etc..)

Something Wanted

  • Computer (my current HP is around 6 years and is ready for an upgrade)

Something Thoughtful

  • I usually do not know this item or gift that my husband purchases solo. My son chose my ornament this year which was very sweet!
