5 Running Safety Tips

I have been trying to get back into running post partum. My goal is to go at least once a week and slowly build on my stamina and distance. I have shared some ways I have gotten back into an exercise routine since our son was born. You can check out that post here: Getting Back Into Exercise After Baby. I thought I would share some ways I try to stay safe while running. We absolutely love our neighborhood and town, however I think it is always a good thing to be aware and alert in any situation. I would love to know any of your tips!

1.One Head Phone or None

I think it is so important to have an ear or ears alert while running/walking. I like to use only one air pod so I can hear any cars or people around me. Although I typically love to blast music, I like to be more cautious when I am outside and be alert the entire time.

2.Pepper Spray

I like to carry pepper spray while running just to be on the cautious side. There are so many options now that are great and easy to run with!

3.Form Fitting Clothing & No Jewelry

If someone were to try and grab you, it would be harder with clothing that is form fitting as opposed to loose/baggy. Also not wearing anything that draws attention is something to keep in mind.

4.Different Routes/Time Of Day

If you are the type of person to run/walk at the exact same time in the exact same place every day or certain days of the week, it may be a good idea to continuously switch things up!

5.Phone & Emergency Apps

I always make sure my phone is fully charged and that I have an app where I can easily access help if needed without actually calling anyone. There are some really great options out there!

I would love to know anything you do!

As always, sending light and love.

Blessings,

Jac
