PM Routine

I recently shared the importance of systems and routines in my post 10 Things That Help Me “Adult”. I also shared a glimpse of our morning routine that you can catch here: Morning Routine. Today I wanted to share what my PM routine looks like. I personally like having small routines/rituals that I can look forward to each day to “book end” everything in between. Morning and evening routines do not have to be anything complex! They can be simple things to look forward to that give you the space to make yourself a priority.

I would love to know anything that is part of your PM routine or if you are wanting to start one!

Family Dinner

We are big on having dinner at the table with no distractions. It is such a valuable time to be together as a family and connect over a nice meal.

Next Day Prep

I have shared how I like to “prep” anything for the next day, so I am not scrambling in the morning to get things done. You can check out more here: Putting The House To Bed

Toddler Bed Time Routine

We are very structured with our son’s bedtime not only for him, but also for us! His routine includes bath, brushing teeth, book, affirmations, prayer, and songs. He has also learned that when his clock turns read that means he is in his bed for the night. It is so nice having that consistency of adult time/alone time!

Shower/Skin Care

There is nothing better than a hot shower at the end of the day and having the time to do some self care. Skin care may not be anything fancy, but it is something I definitely look forward to each night along with anything else I am wanting to do (ex: wash/dry hair, nails, etc..)

Hubby Time

My husband and I typically have a show we are watching together and will watch an episode or two. If not we will do something else like a puzzle or movie!

Read

I try to read 1-2 chapters before bed to calm my mind and prepare for sleep.

What are some things you currently do or are trying to implement?

Blessings,

Jac

The Secret Sauce

I was recently thinking about my vision and goals for this year. I personally look at my vision board every day since it is the background on my computer, so I am constantly reminded of the things I want to make a priority. You can read more about goal setting and vision boards here:Vision BoardsGoal Setting: Top 5 Tips

Although this year has thrown us a huge curve ball, I feel like I am still making great progress on many goals/visions I set for myself.  I started to think about what was causing me to achieve those goals, taking into account the strange circumstance and situation we are all facing. I realized there is one common thread among everything I want to achieve and is kind of the “secret sauce” to making things happen…

I have realized that for most things the secret sauce is simply consistency.  The small actions taken over time accumulate into the bigger picture or goal. It is the discipline and steps we take day in and day out that truly help us get to where we want to be. I feel many of us have such an “instant gratification” mindset, simply because most things are obtainable quickly and easily.  However our goals and big picture dreams do not happen overnight. They may take months or even years to obtain which can be difficult to keep in mind.

Think about those goals that rely on consistency. You don’t magically become healthy and fit after one good day, week, or even month. Your savings account isn’t where you would like it to be after one paycheck. Your debt isn’t typically gone with one payment. A habit or routine isn’t established after a few days of implementing it. You aren’t established in your career within your first year or two. Your child doesn’t know the expectation for something after modeling it once. All of these things take time and the discipline to stay consistent with the steps that need to be taken.

It truly is so simple, yet requires repeated actions on our part. Once you are there though, it sure is sweet!

What are some things you are trying to stay consistent? I would love to know!

Blessings,

Jac

3 Things We Do In Our Marriage: Part 2

Last year I shared three things we do in our marriage that are small, but make an big impact. You can check out that post here: 3 Things We Do In Our Marriage. We recently celebrated our five year anniversary in a much different way than planned or anticipated. However, it was perfect for this season and we are excited to reschedule our plans when the time is right.

This year has been such an interesting year with moving to a new city, my husband starting a new job, and of course the pandemic. It has been a time of growth, reflection, and perspective. I thought I would share three more things that impact our marriage and make a difference. I would love to know anything that has worked well for you!

1.Activity/Hobby Together

This can be anything from watching a show, playing a game, working on a puzzle, gardening, going to the gym, etc. I think it is important to find something that you can do together and look forward to on a regular basis (aside from date nights). We are currently watching Lost once our son goes to bed and it is something we enjoy each night!

2.Systems/Routines

If you know me, you know I am all about anything that can make something easier. I think establishing routines or systems with your spouse can be extremely beneficial. It can be anything from sharing household chores to alternating watching the kids. An example for us is that one of us cooks dinner while the other person cleans up after (alternate based on who cooks). It does not have to be anything elaborate!

3.Individual Interests

I think it is important to have your own “thing” in a relationship and to support one another with whatever that may be. It could be anything from a hobby to a friends weekend/trip to a pampering day. Giving each other the time and space needed is so valuable!

I would love to know your thoughts!

Blessings,

Jac
