2021 Father’s Day Gift Ideas

With Father’s Day less than a month out, I figured I would share some gift ideas that have been favorites over the years or are a little outside of the box from things you can buy at the store. I try to stay reasonable price wise with gifting, so most are very affordable/simple options. You can also check out my men’s gift videos below for more! I would love to know some of your favorites throughout the years or what you plan to do this year.

1.Round Of Golf

If you know someone who enjoys golfing, gifting a round is always a nice gesture and something they will enjoy. You can do a course favorite or somewhere they have never played! You can also pair a gift certificate with new golf balls and/or gloves!

Favorite Gloves & Balls

2.Variety Pack Beer/Wine

If you know someone who enjoys trying different beverages, gifting a variety or sampler pack of beer/wine is always fun! I know many grocery stores offer something like this which also makes it easy and convenient! If you want to add a little more, you could pick up nice steaks to grill at home.

3.Coffee/Tea Sampler

Creating your own sample pack or purchasing a gift box from a subscription service could be another fun and different idea. Some services also pair foods with drinks which is unique. I like using Bean Box for both and have enjoyed a variety of their gift boxes! You could also add in a fun mug with kid’s faces or an inside joke.

4.Seasonings

If you know someone who enjoys grilling, new seasonings are always fun to try! You can pick out personal favorite or curate your own variety. They also have boxes like this, which is fun and different. You could always pair with a thermometer, cook book, or meat for a nice dinner in!

5.Date Night Or Something For Hobby

If you are gifting for your husband, a date night or something towards their hobby is always an easy and appreciated go to!

Transition From 1-2 Kids

We are coming up on three weeks with our littlest love, and truly enjoying every second. I have mentioned how my mindset and emotions have been much better this time around here: Recovery: Baby 2. Even though the exhaustion has kicked in from the long nights, I am beyond grateful for this time and season with both of our boys.

For me personally, the transition from 1-2 has been much easier than 0-1 simply because I know what to expect and have the perspective I lacked with our first. I am not crippled by anxiety or sorting through a ton of emotions with our second like I expected. I am also not making any major life changes/decisions like I was when deciding to stay home after our first. My mental and emotional state are in such a good and joyful place, which has made a huge difference in the transition.

Entertaining a three year old while taking care of a newborn can be challenging to figure out. Since it is a learning process, I am allowing us this time to just be and not placing any pressure on myself on things we “should” be doing. We have naturally been finding our groove this week with just the three of us and I know we will get into a routine soon.

40 Weeks

I thought I would share some things that have personally helped with our family and the transition. I would love to know anything that worked well for you!

  • Prepare older sibling as much as you can before baby depending on their age
  • Give gift to older sibling from new sibling to make them feel special
  • Block out 1:1 time with each sibling every day…it does not have to be long but undivided attention
  • Praise older sibling for any way they help and communicate how much you appreciate them
  • Let your older child feel the emotions they are feeling and support them
  • Have something for just your older child to participate in and look forward to
  • Talk to your older child and explain things to them
  • Keep 2-3 things consistent from routine before baby to provide a sense of stability with older sibling (ex: bath, bed, lessons, etc)
  • Divide and conquer with spouse
  • Ask for help where you feel you truly need it (ex: playing with older sibling, meals, etc)
  • Continue to do something for yourself every day ( ex: walk, skincare, journal, etc)

As always, sending light and love.

Jac

Postpartum Essentials

I recently shared some of our newborn essentials that we have been using the past two weeks. You can check that out here…

I thought I would piggy back off of that and share some of my postpartum essentials and what I have personally been using during this time. I would love to know anything that you found yourself using or loving during recovery and those first couple of weeks post birth!

1.Pads

Having a variety of pads is so helpful at home depending on how your recovery and healing is. It truly is personal preference and what your body is needing. I personally like having 3ish options to use depending on the day and what I am needing.

2. Nursing Bras

If you choose to breastfeed having good, supportive bras is a must! Your body is adapting and changing based on what your baby needs so being comfortable is a huge plus. If you find yourself leaking a lot, using pads inside your bra will be so helpful. I personally don’t use any but know a lot of people do! Also using a cream can help if you are tender or raw in that area.

3.Lounge Clothes

Having comfortable lounge clothes is a must! The first two weeks I have barely worn “regular” clothes and have been enjoying staying as comfortable as possible throughout the day.

Current Favorite: Lounge Set

4.Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is so important no matter what season of life you are in…especially when your body is healing and recovering! Having a water bottle you love that you can continuously fill up throughout the day will help you remember to stay hydrated and give your body what it needs.

Current Favorite: Water Bottle

5.Vitamins

I am continuing my prenatal with breastfeeding along with the supplements I was taking during pregnancy. Continuing to give your body what you need is so important and you can always discuss with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.

Items I used with my first recovery included ice packs, peri bottle, and witch hazel/dermoplast. I have not needed any of those this time around which has been wonderful and a much different experience. You can check out my recovery with our second here: Recovery Baby 2.

As always sending light and love!
