Baby/Kid Items My Parents Keep At Their House

I have recently shared some posts on traveling and what works for our family. You can check that out here: Top 3 Tips When Traveling With Littles By Car, Toddler Activity Bag Favorites For Road Trips, Baby Bag Activity Favorites For Road Trips. I also shared stories on planning and packing. Since we have traveled this month, I
started thinking about what kid items are nice to already have at the destination to eliminate some packing items and make things easier.

I thought I would share things that my parents keep at their house for the grandkids. It is so helpful to not have to pack certain things and to already have it ready when you get there! I am so thankful they invested in some items to make it easier on us!

1.Crib/Pack N Play

My parents have both at their house which is so nice to not have to worry about a bed option! As of now their three grandkids are spread out at different stages so we can have one in the crib, one in the the pack n play, and one in a regular bed when we are all together.

2.High Chair

My parents bought a high chair to keep there to have a seat option for the kiddos. It is nice to not have to pack a bumbo or something else for them to sit in while eating. They also have a kids chair for our older son that we used at my Grandmother’s house.

3.Toys/Books

My mom has all of our childhood books that our older son loves to read and look through! She has also accumulated toys and taken out our old ones so the kids have activities when we visit such as legos, little people, etc. She also surprises them with a new toy with each visit like my Grandma used to do!

4.Tolietries

They keep little items such as baby soap, kid sunscreen, swim diapers, diapers, etc in the bathrooms and rooms which is so helpful and nice!

5.Snacks

My mom is so thoughtful and gets a list of current snacks or favorites that our toddler loves. She makes she she has the pantry and fridge stocked so I don’t have to worry about bringing that, and he has foods that are familiar to him! He also has his own plate/utensils there as well!

What are some things your parents keep at their house? I would love to know!

As always, sending light and love.

Jac

Baby Activity Bag Favorites For Car Trips

I recently shared some of my favorite activities to bring in the car for my toddler. You can check out that post here. I thought I would share some of my favorites for our younger son that I find myself using or gravitating towards. For reference he is 4.5 months! I would love to know your road trip must haves!

1.Spiral Activity (Car Seat)

I love having this to hang in the car during this stage. I am always sitting in the back with the boys, so I can make sure it is placed in a good spot for our son. He really loves it!

2.Crinkle Books

I love having crinkle books to show our son and have him explore/play with. They are easy to pack and also nice to use at destinations. There are so many different kinds that are wonderful!

3.Rattles

Our son loves rattles and noise! They are easy for him to grab and also nice to chew on!

4.Teether Toys

Our son is definitly in the put everything in your mouth phase, so any type of teether is great for the car!

5.Suction Toys

Our son loves playing with these in the car which is great because we also use them when he is sitting!

What are some of your staple items?

As always, sending light and love.

Jac

5 Things I Do Before A Trip

We recently enjoyed our annual trip with my husband’s family at the lake. As I was getting us ready, I began thinking about what I like to do before we go out of town. I personally like to come home not feeling stressed or have a mile long to do list before the week starts. I thought I would share my top five today. You can also check out how I plan and pack for our family here: Family Packing: Planning & Family Packing: Go Tos.

I would love to know anything you do!

1.Clean Out Fridge

Anytime we leave before a trip, we try and finish up or eat anything that will go bad. We are not ones to waste anything during a “typical” week, however we make an extra effort if we know we will be gone. Usually we will do some type of stir fry or pasta to use up all of our vegetables and meat!

2.Laundry/Sheets

I like to wash everything I can prior to vacation so I have less to do when we return. I also like to wash our bedding so we have clean sheets (there is just something about it). If I can, I will do laundry where we are staying to eliminate a ton of clothes when we return. It truly makes such a difference.

3.Vaccum

I prefer coming home to our house clean and put together. I like to vacuum the house the day before we leave so it is nice when we return.

4.Tidy Up

Just like with vacuuming, I also like to make sure everything is tidy and put away. There is just something about coming home to a clean/tidy home after a trip! You can read more about maintaining a tidy home here.

5.Snack Prep

I always make sure we have a ton of snacks for the car, flight or our destination (if needed). I have a bag designated for food and it truly is a game changer with kiddos!

What are some things you like to do before hand?

As always, sending light and love!

Blessings,

Jac
